Your tax invoice
Your invoice is a tax invoice, and it is checked against the required field list rather than against an intention to be compliant.
What it carries
The required elements: that it is a tax invoice, who issued it, their business number, the date, a description of what was supplied with quantity and price, the tax amount or a statement that the total includes it, and which items are taxable. Over the threshold it also carries your identity.
The check runs over the rendered document rather than over the data behind it, because a field present in a record and missing from the page is a missing field on the thing you were sent.
Prices on both bases
Every line shows the amount before tax and the amount including it. Not one with the other in a footnote.
The two are consistent by construction: the including figure is derived from the excluding one under a stated rounding rule, and an invoice whose figures do not reproduce from each other does not render.
What proves it worked
Reprint an invoice from a year ago. It is identical to the one you were sent, including the totals.
That is the property worth checking, and it is not free: every value is taken from the record stored at the time, never recomputed at print time. If prices changed since, or the rounding rule changed, or your plan changed, none of it touches an invoice already issued. A document that changes after it is issued is not a record of anything.
Reading a metered line
A metered line shows the unit, the quantity and the rate. The quantity is the same number the usage view showed you during the month, from the same account, not a second calculation.
If a figure looks wrong
Raise a ticket with the invoice reference and the line. Tell us what you expected. Because the values come from stored records rather than from a recomputation, we can show you exactly which record produced the figure, which usually answers it in one message.
Getting a copy
All your invoices are in the tenant admin under Billing, and they remain available after your account closes. An invoice you cannot retrieve is a problem for your accountant, not for us, which is the wrong way round.
